History
Avilon, formerly known as Kuitu, Säteri and Kuitu Finland, is based in Valkeakoski, Finland. Its history dates back to 1937, when Kuitu started viscose fiber production in Carelia, Finland.
After World War II Säteri continued its fiber manufacture in Valkeakoski and today the company still operates in the same place, with the same technology and same skilled staff, providing high-quality fiber and service excellence.
Viscose Fiber
Avilon manufactures the highest quality of viscose fiber, suitable for all technologies in textile spinning. The fibers can be manufactured in a variety of cut lengths and titres. In addition to this, Avilon has its own quality control, where all related tests and analysis can be run in-house.
Specialty Fibers
One of the main focuses of Avilon’s strategy, fire-retardant fiber is a globally recognized, high-quality product widely used to ensure fire safety of different furnishings.
Avilon also has a long history in the manufacture of high-class non-woven fiber for the hygiene industry as well as short cut fiber for special products e.g. specialty papers and wet-laid non-woven fabrics. These widely recognized products meet the highest requirements of these client industries.
Technology & R&D
Avilon plays a significant role in the technological development of the fiber industry, and technology as a business is a strategical focus area for the company. The company has an active R&D department, which continuously develops production optimizing, cost-efficient technology as well as novel fiber products.
Paper Pulp to Viscose
In 2011, Avilon announced a major innovation of converting paper grade pulp into a suitable raw material for viscose fiber manufacture. The method is in use at Avilon’s factory. The Paper Pulp to Viscose solution has a patent pending, and licences to the technology are available.
